Sussex Air Ambulance received a massive boost to their funds this week, when Dunsfold Park donated a cheque for £20,000

The Air Ambulance was one of the benefiting charities for Wings and Wheels, which took place last August.

A record number of spectators flocked to the aerodrome to watch air displays, including a Hurricane, The Great War Display Team, Eurofighter Typhoon and the show were closed by the mesmerizing The Red Arrows. On the ground, there were displays from motoring classics.

The Sussex Air Ambulance is based at Dunsfold Park, and visitors were able to see the Air Ambulance and meet the pilots, doctors and paramedics who fly on the helicopter.

Jamie McAllister, Event Promoter, comments:

"Wings & Wheels 2009 demonstrated just how popular the Air show has become. It's no longer a local show but has evolved into one of the UK's leading Air shows with visitors coming the length and breadth of the UK.

"Making the decision to become a 2-day show is our response to this success and also allows us, as organisers, to ensure that we are putting on the very best event in the air, on the ground and by providing our visitors an excellent experience that's value for money."

Wings and Wheels will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend on Sunday 29th and Monday 30th August this year and promises to be an even bigger and better extravaganza with an exciting line-up of flying and motoring demonstrations.

John Tickner, Chief Executive of Sussex Air Ambulance said "The Rutland Group, who operate Dunsfold Park have been incredibly supportive ever since we opened our base there in 2007. This donation of £20,000 will make an incredible difference to us and we are very grateful to Jim McAllister and his team for their support."

Sussex Air Ambulance responds to serious medical emergencies, 365 days a year. It costs £1.7 million to fund the service, which is supported almost entirely by donations from the public.
